Terror Con Returns for Frightful Fun This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, RI — Terror Con, Rhode Island’s horror and paranormal convention, returns this weekend to the RI Convention Center after a long hiatus following the show’s debut in the summer of 2014, with celebrities and authors, photo ops, panel discussions and artists of the two-dimensional and tattoo variety.

Several vendors will also man the aisles at the show, selling toys, comics, collectables and memorabilia, and a number of iconic vehicles from stage and screen will also be on display, including the famed Impala from Supernatural and a Jeep from Jurassic Park.

The show also attracts a number of creative and artistic cosplayers portraying their favorite characters from horror and science fiction pop culture.

The show’s been away this long, said Susan Soares, press relations manager for the show, so that Altered Reality Entertainment, which runs both Terror Con and RI Comic Con, could focus efforts on  RI Comic Con.

Celebrity guests include Malcolm McDowell, who has appeared in films including A Clockwork Orange, Cat People, Tank Girl, Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II and Milk Money. His TV series appearances include Heroes and Entourage.McDowell lent his voice in Robot Chicken, Teen Titans and Lego Hero Factory and in video games such as God Of War 3, Killzone 3, Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Call Of Duty: Revelations.

Star Trek fans will also remember McDowell as Dr. Tolian Soran, the villain of the first Star Trek, The Next Generation movie, also the murderer of Capt. James T. Kirk.

Terror Con also hosts Chris Sarandon, who voiced “Jack Skellington” in Tim Burton’s, The Nightmare Before Christmas, appeared in Fright Night, and was quite put out as Prince Humperdink in The Princess Bride.

Sarandon was also nominated for an Academy Award for playing Leon Shermer in Dog Day Afternoon.

John Kassir
John Kass

Fans HBO’s Tales From The Crypt will recognize the voice of voice actor John Kassir, who also did voice work on the Team Knight Rider series, in Pochontas as Meeko, The Simpsons, Rocket Power, and CatDog.

Kassir has also done many voices on video games including Deadpool in Marvel:Ultimate Alliance 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Lego Jurassic Park World, Skylanders: Imaginators, Halo 5 and Final Fantasy XV. Some of the most recent movies include The Secret Life of Pets and Pete’s Dragon.

Horror fans will no doubt remember Adrienne Barbeau from her roles in Swamp Thing, The Fog, The Cannon Ball Run, Escape From New York, Back To School, The Thing, Creepshow, and General Hospital, as well as voicing multiple video games. She is also the author of four books: the autobiography There Are Worse Things I Could Do, and the novels Vampyres of Hollywood, Love Bites and Make Me Dead.

Terror Con will also host a number of Walking Dead stars  this weekend, including Khary Payton (King Ezekiel), Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Elizabeth Ludlow (who plays Negan’s badass disciple, Arat), Jeremy Palko (who plays Hilltop denizen Andy) and Ann Mahoney (Alexandria’s ill-fated doctor Olivia).

Altered Reality has produced an app for following along on changes to the schedule and celebrity appearances throughout the weekend, available for Android and for Iphone. The company has also shared a map of the event, posted below for reference throughout the show.

Terror Con runs at the RI Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence, RI on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 adult and $15 for kids on Saturday, then $25 for adult and $10 for kids on Sunday.
