Sgt. Nelson Carreiro orginally spotted the Jeep and followed it as it swerved over both traffic guides, finally driving between both lanes near Inskip Way, where he pulled the Jeep driver over. Carreiro identified the driver as Bobby Green, 42, 45 Highland St., Mashpee, MA.
Green acknowledged, “I was all over the road,” and indicated his cell phone, in his hand, telling Carreiro he had been in an argument with his girlfriend. Carreiro noted he could hear the woman’s voice on the phone. He noted Green had slurred speech, and red, drooping eyes, according to the report. Carreiro called Macera to conduct sobriety tests with Green.
During the tests, according to Macera’s report, Green failed to cooperate during a test of his vision, missed nearly every walk-and-turn heel-to-toe step, and put his foot down and used his arms for balance, stopping the test on his own after 14 seconds and telling Macera, “I’m drunk, man,” according to the report.
Macera arrested Green and transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, where he refused to take a breath test of his blood alcohol level. Macera charged him with DUI, blood alcohol content unknown, and cited him for refusing the test. He was issued a summons for the DUI charge for a Jan. 30, 2024 arraignment in Third District Court.
