RISP: Remains Found In Foster ID’d as Missing Warwick Woman

WARWICK, RI — RI State Police report they’ve identified remains found in Foster Wednesday as Michele Romano, 56, of Warwick, a missing Warwick woman last seen around July 22, in the Oakland Beach area of the city.

State Police announced that the body was found near 88 Plainfield Pike, Foster, on Wednesday, March 26.  Members of the Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit, along with the Forensic Services Unit, the Warwick Police Department, and the State Medical Examiner’s Office, have confirmed the remains as Romano.

Officials sought missing Warwick woman since July 2024

Romano’s last known address was 112 Hazard Ave., Warwick, Rhode Island. She was reported missing by a family member to the Warwick Police Department on August 18, 2024.

An active joint investigation is currently underway, involving the Rhode Island State Police, Warwick Police Department, and the Office of the Attorney General, to examine the suspicious circumstances surrounding Romano’s death, according to State Police.

Unsolved RI reported on their Facebook page in October 2024 that Michele’s natural hair was black, but that she may have be wearing a wig, and was last seen with shoulder-length bronze hair with blonde highlights. She did not have a vehicle. Her family reported it was unusual for Michele to be gone for so long at the time o her disappearance.
