RI Trooper Log: Coventry Arrests for Fleeing Home Confinement, Illegal Pistol

The Rhode Island State Police are stationed in several barracks throughout RI. Each week Troopers make multiple RI arrests recorded in the RI Trooper log.

COVENTRY, RI —  Coventry arrests and other Kent County arrests in the RI Trooper Log  June 30 – July 3 involved charges for fleeing home confinement, false documents and conspiracy, domestic violence and illegal pistol possession.

Here are the basics on those RI State Police Coventry arrests:

WW warrant, Providence stop On June 30, at 11:32 a.m., troopers arrested Jamaal Dublin, 41, of 285 Willard Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island, on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Domestic Violence Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct originating out of the West Warwick Police Department.

This arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street, in the City of Providence. Dublin was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and then turned over to the West Warwick Police Department.

WG man, conspiracy, money under false pretenses charges, false documents On June 27, 2024, members of the Financial Crimes Unit arrested Zackary Roberts, 34, of 22 Seminole Trail, West Greenwich, Rhode Island, for the following: 1) Obtaining Money Under False Pretense; 2) Conspiracy; 3) Fraudulently Obtaining Assistance; and 4) Giving a False Document to Public Official.

Roberts was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $15,000/personal recognizance.

Coventry man flees home confinement On June 26, 2024, members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Thad Carman, 32, of 2017 New London Turnpike, Coventry, Rhode Island, as an escapee from Home Confinement.

Carman was taken into custody without incident and transported directly to the ACI Intake Service Center.

Traffic stop, illegal marijuana possession  At 2:25 p.m. July2, Troopers arrested Philip Gibbs, 34, of 530 E 169 Street, Bronx, New York for 1.) Possession of Marijuana – Over 2 Ounces. They also arrested Idrissa Diabate, 20, of 450 E 169 Street, Bronx, New York for 1.) Possession of Marijuana – Over 2 Ounces.

The arrests were the result of a traffic stop on Rte. 95 in West Greenwich. The suspects were transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released with a future Third Division District Court date.

WW: Illegal pistol, fireworks sales On Tuesday, July 2, at 8:59 a.m., troopers arrested Joshua R. Mota, 23, of 6 Phenix Avenue, West Warwick, Rhode Island for 1.) License or Permit Required to Carry a Pistol, 2.) Illegal Sale, Use, or Possession of Fireworks. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Telmore Road in the City of Warwick. The suspect was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, where he was processed, and later transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment.

Illegal drug possession On Wednesday, July 3, members of the ACI Investigations Unit charged Steven J. Lafazia, 22, of last known address 340 Chaplin Drive, Coventry, Rhode Island, with Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule I-V.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the ACI Investigations Unit and the ACI Special Investigations Unit. Mr. Lafazia was arraigned in Third District Court and released to the custody of the Sheriffs Department.
