Red Cross, WFD, Aid Family After Kilvert Street Fire

WARWICK, RI — The American Red Cross is helping a family of four adults after a 157 Kilvert Street fire in the building’s basement, quickly extinquished by Warwick firefighters.

The fire began around 10:54 am. in the building’s basement Thursday, according to MikeARFF on X (formerly Twitter). Warwick firefighters responded, knocking down the fire within four minutes.

Red Cross Aids Kilvert Street fire victims

Red Cross responders Jamie Lynch, Bob Partington and Melissa Hunter provided assistance to meet the family’s immediate needs, according to a their statement on the organization’s response to the fire and resulting need of  the family.

The Red Cross also provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more. The organization also provided comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.

Those affected will connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan. The Red Cross is able to provide assistance through the generosity of our donors and commitment of our volunteers.
