WARWICK, RI — Mayor Frank Picozzi warned motorists of an Oakland Beach traffic delay expected Monday – Tuesday as construction for a new Oakland Beach Playground progresses.
Picozzi warned of the traffic delay in Oakland Beach expected Monday and Tuesday caused by construction of the splash pad site for the playground.
“The contractor will be closing the roadway adjacent to the Oakland Beach Splash-pad and Playground project site in order to install the necessary drainage infrastructure. The work will begin Monday, March 25th and it is anticipated to be finished by the end of day Tuesday, March 26th. Traffic will be diverted through the Top of the Bay parking lot for those constituents who wish to access the Oakland Beach Parking lot. There will be an officer present to control the traffic. (Top of the Bay is closed on Mondays),” Picozzi wrote.
As Warwick City Council President Steve McAllister noted in his Council Update column Sept. 8, the project to build a new Oakland Beach playground, splash pad and storm water improvements plan will cost a little more than $1.7 million and is paid for entirely with federal CBDG community development funds.
