Warwick, RI – Spectators of the 49th Annual Gaspee Days Foot Race remarked with surprise when first-place finisher Glarius Rop turned the corner for the home stretch of the 5K course down Rhodes Place in Cranston Saturday morning.
The race set off from Broad Street at Chiswick Road in Cranston, following in part along Warwick Avenue in in Warwick, looping back toward the start. Rop finished it with a time of 14:25.9.
He was followed shortly by Matt Pelletier and Patrick Moulton, with times of 15:23.4 and 15:32.3, respectively.
Leading the pack for the women’s division was Katie Moulton with 17:22.7, followed by Samantha Roecker with 17:40.3 and Kaitlin Wilson with 18:28.1
All proceeds from registration fees benefit the Gaspee Committee.
