Firefighters Contain Maple Valley Road Barn Fire

COVENTRY, RI — Coventry firefighters from three departments and Coventry Police responded to a barn fire at 772 Maple Valley Road Saturday night, containing the blaze as it fully engulfed the building.

No injuries to people or livestock occurred, according to Coventry Police. Firefighters from Anthony Fire Department, Central Coventry Fire Department, and Western Coventry Fire Department responded to fight the fire.

Upon arrival, responding units found the barn fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters immediately began suppression efforts, working diligently to contain the fire and prevent its spread to nearby structures, Coventry Police announced Saturday night.

The Rhode Island Breaking News Service (RIBNS) also responded to the scene and posted photos of the Coventry firefighters barn fire response on Twitter/X.

The breaking news service reported the initial call about a possible barn fire at about 5:11 p.m.. RIBNS noted first responders to the scene called for additional tankers to aid the firefighting effort at 7:01 p.m. Their first photo from the scene features a fire truck and chickens, captioned, “This is a first.” At 7:02 p.m., another photo is captioned, ‘At this point, the barn is completely on the ground.’

At about 7:25 p.m., RIBNS reported heavy smoke coming from the barn. By 9:43 p.m., firefighters and police had put up caution tape around the extinquished fire, which appeared to have razed the barn.

Barn Fire: No injures to people, animals

No individuals or livestock were inside the building at the time, and no injuries have been reported, police report. The fire is not considered suspicious, police and fire personnel are performing a routine investigation to determine the cause.

‘The Coventry Police Department and our fire partners thank the community for their cooperation,” Coventry Police stated.
