Summer Kung Fu BBQ

Bring your ears, eyes and stomachs to the Summer Kung Fu BBQ at All American Paws, 505 Tiogue Ave., Coventry, RI on July 19 from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. for an afternoon of free BBQ, Kung Fu and music showcasing three locally-owned businesses!
Coventry, which WarwickPost.com now covers more regularly, is home to many small businesses, some of which we’ve written about, some we’ve patronized and some we’ve been fortunate to partner with through advertising on WarwickPost.com. During Warwick Post’s upcoming Summer Kung Fu BBQ event, we’ll partner with three of them to make sure their neighbors know they’re on the map in Coventry. Our partners in the Summer Kung Fu BBQ include:
Summer Kung Fu BBQ – the BBQ
Braza Brazilian BBQ: Straight from the bustling Sandy Bottom Road Plaza, Braza is your go-to spot for Brazilian BBQ in Coventry and great take-out, sold by weight on Sandy Bottom Road. Marilene and Pancho, the owners, have been serving takeout Brazillian BBQ in Coventry at their 15 Sandy Bottom Road location since 2019.
In case you’re not familiar, the couple’s friendly faces greet customers from behind the counter, which displays a wide variety of Brazilian BBQ and foods, all cooked fresh daily, waiting for you to pick and choose at their self-serve buffet of delicious meat and vegetable dishes. Food choices are updated regularly with a number of mainstays to appeal to regulars. Items served include chicken wings, spicy sausage, rice, beans, pork ribs and more. Word has it their famous spinach lasagna now also gluten free. Their BBQ, including sausage, chicken wings, beef and rice, will be provided, first-come, first serve, while supplies last.
Summer Kung Fu BBQ – the Kung Fu
Ocean State Shaolin: Hailing from her New York City Kungfu/qigong studio, Veronica Samos now runs her 716 Centre of New England Blvd., Coventry martial arts school teaching Shaolin kungfu and qigong, offering private lessons and group kungfu classes to adults and children. The qigong classes are open to adults of all ages and fitness levels. “Qigong practice is a great addition to any fitness or athletic regimen as well as beneficial to those suffering/recovering from a debilitating illness or injury,” Samos says.
You’ll get a feel for the grace and discipline Quigong and Shaolin artists are capable of as Samos and a few friends perform live demonstrations during the event. They’ll also be taking signups for intro classes from all interested parties.
Summer Kung Fu BBQ – the Venue
All-American Paws – Graciously providing their lot for our Summer Kung-Fu BBQ get-together are dog lovers Zeliah and Eric, who have been running the All-American Paws pet supply shop since 2015 (They’ll celebrate their 10-year anniversary in November). The shop offers dog food, treats, dental supplies, harnesses and leashes, dog toys, and a self-wash station for your pooch.
The store will be open and Zee says leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome inside and out during the event, so it may be a good opportunity to refill your dog food supply or pick up some treats or toys for your four-legged friends.
Summer Kung Fu BBQ – the Emcee
Mighty Music Bingo’s Christian Galpin – You’ve seen them testing trivia and getting laughs at venues such as Ladder 133 in Providence and The Joint in Cranston, and for this limited engagement, the voice behind the laughing and the knowledge spanning decades backward like a weird bar-brand Merlin, Christian, “The Mouth” Galpin, will play tunes and engage the crowd when the crowd tires of pets, kung-fu and bbq.
Will that even happen? Join us July 19 at 11 a.m. and find out! RSVP Below and let us know!
