Bowling for Books

Books Are Wings will host “Bowling for Books” on Wednesday, October 29, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Breaktime Bowl and Bar in Pawtucket. The event supports childhood literacy initiatives and honors community partners for their essential role in increasing access to books in under-resourced communities.

Books Are Wings distributes an average of 60,000 books each year to children in Rhode Island, through events, school programs and in community centers. Through Books Are Wings’ high-quality literacy programming, young readers who don’t have access to books at home get to select books to keep and own.

The event is the kickoff for Books Are Wings’ 12th annual Gift of Literacy campaign, which raises vital funds to support young readers, and goes through December 31, 2025. The evening will feature bowling, appetizers, cash bar, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and more. A short speaking program will highlight Books Are Wings’ programs and impact in the community, followed by the presentation of awards.

The “Bowling for Books” kickoff and the larger Gift of Literacy campaign enables Books Are Wings to sustain and expand local literacy initiatives that empower young readers.
