COVENTRY, RI — Coventry Police at Walmart, at 3:06 p.m. Friday for a shoplifting call arrested two men fleeing in a Ford Fusion who hit a tree, then also fled the Centre of NE Crash.

While the officers were enroute to 650 Centre of New England Blvd., dispatch informed them the two suspected of shoplifters had fled on foot. The officers spotted the men, who got into a black 2011 Ford Fusion parked in the nearby Home Depot lot, then drove away as officers approached on foot, according to a statement on the arrest issued by Coventry Police.

West Greenwich Police, and Rhode Island State Police, with K9 units and drones (UAVs), were called to assist searching for the men, who they ultimately located and arrested. Rescue personnel transported each man to Kent Hospital for injuries from the crash.
