COVENTRY, RI — Coventry community members can look forward to lots of live music performances this weekend, as well as a birthday celebration for General Greenee.

The Coventry Community events weather forecast promises sunny with a high near 86 Friday,  partly sunny with a chance of showers Saturday, and partly sunny with a chance of showers Sunday, the National Weather Service reports.

Here are some Coventry community events and happenings to help you decide where you’re spending this weekend:

Coventry Community Events Friday:

Free Summer Entertainment Series ft. Blissful MoonCoventry Parks and Recreation’s Free Summer Entertainment Series continues on Friday, July 25 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Come out to the Town Hall Annex (1675 Flat River Road) for a free performance by Blissful Moon, a classic rock band sponsored by Aspire Dermatology. Don’t forget your snack, blanket, or chair, and a friend. We can’t wait to sing the night away with you.

Purple Honey Concert at Lake Taco Time to get on those dancing shoes. This Friday, July 25 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Purple Honey brings you popular hits you can’t help but move to. Come grab a margarita, eat tacos, and shake it at Coventry’s best outdoor patio. Join us for a free live performance with our seven piece full band.

Goat Snuggles Come join us at Amazing Grace Farm and enjoy time with our goats. Brush them, snuggle them, give them snacks, and watch them play. We guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face. Each snuggle session is about 40 minutes long.

Free Summer Entertainment Series ft. Toe Jam Puppet Band Coventry Parks and Recreation’s Free Summer Entertainment Series continues on Saturday, July 26 from 3-4 p.m. Bring the whole family down to the Town Hall Annex (1675 Flat River Road) for a free and entertaining show by the Toe Jam Puppet Band. Don’t forget to bring your favorite snacks, a blanket, or a lawn chair, and a friend. See you there!

Community Roots Market We’re delighted to announce that Community Roots Market is coming to Coventry, RI, and we’re eager for you all to join us. We’ll be featuring locally grown and crafted goods. Located at 2501 Nooseneck Hill Rd, Coventry, RI. Open every Saturday from 4-6 p.m.

Home Grown at OTD Home Grown is hitting the stage at OTD this Saturday, July 26 at 8:00 p.m. and we’re bringing the energy all night long. You already know the deal- wall-to-wall bangers from the ’60s to today, good vibes only, and a crowd full of homies ready to get down. Let’s pack the place, sing loud, dance harder, and make it a night to remember. Don’t just hear about it- be there!

Goat Hike and Snuggle Come take a walk in the woods with us and our little herd of goats. The goats are off-leash and forage their way through the trails with us. We stop in several spots for you to interact with them and give them snacks. Easy terrain with a few small hills. The hike is about 40 minutes long. Each hike ends with a snuggle session!

  • Saturdays at 2 p.m.
  • Sundays at 10 a.m.

Baby Goat Yoga Join us on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. for a unique experience of yoga class plus baby goats! Our instructor will lead you through the class while the babies run, play, and most likely climb on you. All levels welcome. You will most likely get dirty, so don’t wear anything that can’t be washed. Bring a yoga mat (we have loaners) and an open mind. You will definitely enjoy this class.

Cost is $30 per person.

Coventry Community Events Sunday:

Nathanael Greene’s 283rd Birthday Celebration Join the Nathanael Greene Homestead Association on Sunday, July 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as we celebrate General Greene’s 283rd Birthday. The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. with featured speaker Michelle Girasole of RI technology brand FreshMaps. Directly following the ceremony Ms. Girasole will demonstrate FreshMaps History Hunt, a scavenger hunt-style experience that tells interesting stories of General Nathanael Greene, his wife Catherine, their contributions to the war effort, as well as sharing facts about Spell Hall and the Homestead property. This self-guided walking tour takes about an hour to complete. Guided by their smartphones, participants will walk to pins around the property map, watching videos about the Greenes, then answering trivia questions and puzzles to earn points. Yes, there will be prizes.

Members of the Public, Historical Organizations, Historical Militia, Living Historians, and Re-enactors are most welcome to attend. Donations are gladly accepted. We look forward to celebrating General Greene’s birthday with you!
