WARWICK, RI — Tiger Eye Gift Shop was razed by a Conimicut fire Saturday afternoon, a blaze that also seriously damaged Kent Electric, rallying the community to their aid with fundraisers and expressions of support on social media.

“Dear Village…..As many of you know, late this afternoon, the center of our Village was rocked by a devastating, fast moving fire…..it appears that our beloved TigerEye Gift Shop LLC has been completely destroyed and Kent Electric has sustained serious damage as well. We are thankful for no loss of life or serious injuries,” The Conimicut Village Facebook page wrote late Saturday night.

“Our thanks to Warwick Fire and Warwick PD for their quick, professional and steadfast efforts in handling this situation and responding to the needs of our community. Liz and team at Tiger Eye have been so supportive of our Village, and we stand ready to give back to them in anyway that we can,” the Village page wrote.

Mayor Frank Picozzi reported on his Facebook page late Saturday that Warwick Firefighters had the fire under control and had begun sending crew members home for the night.

“A crew will remain on-scene throughout the night. Very strong work from the best fire department around!!!! And also a shoutout to the WPD for controlling the scene and traffic so our firefighters could work,” Picozzi wrote.

Mary Day, whose sister, and nephew,  Tish Boucher and Ron Amore, respectively, own Tiger Eye Gift Shop,  posted to the business’s page reporting that Tri-city Elks will host a fundraiser Saturday,  Nov. 1, 4 – 8 p.m.,  featuring food, comics, music and raffles. The gift shop also asked followers to help search for a cat that was staying at the shop at the time of the fire.

“Not sure if she escaped before the fire .. not able to locate her. Please Share – in area of 750 West Shore Road,” Tiger Eye wrote on their page, along with a photo of the missing cat.
