The notice was issued Friday at the camp on 584 Victory Highway in Coventry’s Greene Village.
According to the RIDOH website, The Center for Drinking Water Quality requires public water systems to issue boil water notices to their customers when contamination that may cause illness has been found in the water. Presence of E. coli/fecal coliform bacteria indicate that water may be contaminated with human or animal waste. When this happens, water must be boiled to kill bacteria, viruses, and other disease-causing organisms so that the water is safe to use.
For more information, customers should refer to the notice provided to them by their water supply officials.
Hickory Ridge Camp boil water notice
The Hickory Ridge Campground Public Water System collected a sample in the water system on June 17, 2025 that was E. coli present, which was confirmed by additional samples collected June 19, 2025. A boil water order will remain in effect until the water system investigates the source of the bacteria, completes corrective actions including disinfection of the water system, collects three consecutive days of absent bacteria samples, and RIDOH notifies the water system officials that the boil water notice can be rescinded.
