WARWICK, RI – Mayor Scott Avedisian joined Fire Chief Edmund Armstrong and Assistant Chiefs Bruce Cooley and James McLaughlin at the Oakland Beach seawall Monday morning to celebrate the arrival of three new engines replacing existing vehicles.
The engines were manufactured by Pierce Manufacturing.
The new Engine 4, which will be housed at Station 4, which covers the Warwick Neck neighborhood, at 1501 West Shore Road, will replace a 1994 truck, at a cost of $444,747.
Engine 6 will replace a 2004 engine totalled in a serious accident in which the other party was at fault on Airport Road. It will be housed at Station 6, which covers Conimicut, at 456 West Shore Road. Its cost is $467,594.
Engine 9, which was purchased for $473,724, will be housed at Station 9 at 314 Commonwealth Avenue. That station covers the Route 2/Pontiac area.
All three Advanced Life Support (ALS) trucks have 750 gallon water tanks, 1500 GPM pumps and 20-gallon foam tanks on board.
“The arrival of these vehicles will help us to ensure that our fire personnel can respond quickly, safely and efficiently to medical and other emergencies, further helping to ensure the health and well-being of those who visit and live and work in our community,” Avedisian said.
