Warwick Weekend March 12-15: St. Patrick’s Parade

WARWICK, RI — This week’s Warwick Weekend events include the usual WCFA’s members exhibit, Warwick Mall Winter Market, and ice skating, with the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in West Warwick Sunday.

The Warwick Weekend events weather forecast calls for Sunny, then partly sunny skies with temps ranging from the mid- to high 40s. Sunday, parade day, it’ll be mostly cloudy with a high of 44 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Here are some events and happenings to help you decide where you’re spending the weekend, some of it indoors:

Warwick Weekend Events Friday:

WCFA Members Exhibit WCFA’s latest exhibition, its annual Members Exhibit, features artwork from 34 members, running through March 21. The exhibit shows at the WCFA gallery, 3259 Post Rd, Warwick, RI 02886. The  gallery  is open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.  Admission is free.

 Bring Your Own Improv, WCFA Bring Your Own Improv is back for family friendly live performances every Friday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $11.63. If you’re looking for something fun to do late on a Friday night in Warwick, they’ve got you covered. Their Caffeinated Insomniacs Comedy show – designed for teens and adults – is the place to be at 10 p.m.

Their show welcomes voluntary audience participation. You can participate in one of three ways: applaud for a scene you like, yell out fantastic suggestions, or if you feel you’re ready, jump up and get involved. WCFA, responding to the parking ban Wednesday: “There will be a parking ban on Post Road so you will need to park in the city lot behind our building.’

City Hall Plaza skating Skating sessions at the new Greenwood Credit Union City Hall Plaza ice skating rink. The rink is open Wednesdays through Sundays, with times starting at 1:30 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. Sundays.

  • Admission and skate rental is valid for one skate session only. General Admission Ages 13+ $8 • Discounted Admission Children (6-12) • Seniors (62+) • Military/Veteran with valid ID $5 (Free admission for Children 5 and Under)
  • All Skate Rentals: $10 (There is a  3% fee for Debit/Credit cards)

Session hours today – Friday 1:30 – 3 p.m. • 3:30 – 5 p.m. • 5:30 – 7 p.m. • 7:30- 9 p.m.

Botanical Greenhouse (Roger Williams Park)Escape the cold and gray of winter during a visit to the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, open year-round, Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. -4 p.m. (last admission at 3:30 pm.)   RWPBC is an oasis in the heart of Roger Williams Park. There are over 23,000 square feet of indoor display gardens. The year-round 70-degree temperatures in the greenhouses create a tropical ecosystem where you will find insects, birds, fish, and many other inhabitants all working together to create a balanced ecosystem. Museum of Natural History & Planetarium (Roger Williams Park) Rhode Island’s only natural history museum and is home to the state’s only public planetarium. For more than a century the museum has served as a unique educational, scientific and cultural resource by offering exciting exhibits and programming that provide ways for children and families to learn about our world and its people. Open daily 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

EXHIBITS ONLY ADMISSION:
Non-members: $2 per person
Members: Free
Children age 3 and younger: Free

PLANETARIUM SHOW & EXHIBITS:
(Planetarium Show includes Museum Admission)
Nonmembers: $5 per person
Members: Free
Children must be age 4 or older to enter the Planetarium

Warwick Weekend Events Saturday:

Library: How healthy is your soil? Get it tested by URI Master Gardeners from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Library’s Small Meeting Room, 600 Sandy Lane Warwick, RI.
How to Collect a Soil Sample:
• Use a spade to take a thin slice of soil from the root zone (about 6 inches deep).
• Collect ½ cup from several spots in the same area and mix together.
• Air dry on newspaper until completely dry.
• Place about 1 cup of mixed soil in a clean plastic or paper bag.
• Label the bag with the area it came from (ex: lawn or garden).
*This event will run on the second Saturday of each month through October.

Clouds Hill Exhibit, Books & Art: March 7 through April 4 – In 2026 Clouds Hill Museum offers a series of small exhibits featuring some of our collections.  These exhibits will be on display for all visitors. Opening Saturday, March 7, the exhibit, ‘A Book is a Work of Art‘ will run till April 4.  

Tours of the museum are available by appointment. From the museum: “Escape the winter chill and step into a “portal to the past” at Warwick RI Tourism Department‘s Clouds Hill Museum. Originally built in the 1870s as a grand wedding gift, this stunning estate is the perfect cozy indoor activity.”
Walk through rooms that have remained in the same family for four generations, featuring perfectly preserved 19th-century furnishings, hand-carved woodwork, and textiles. After touring the main house, don’t miss the Carriage Museum to see a rare mid-1800s wagon.

Warwick Weekend Events Sunday:

Saint Patrick’s Day Parade – West Warwick The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Pawtuxet Valley’s 65th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is on its way.

‘We invite residents and visitors to come out and enjoy this fun community tradition while helping us keep the day safe for everyone,” West Warwick Police wrote on their Facebook page.

The parade draws spectators and marchers from neighboring towns. One luminary attending will be familiar to Warwick residents. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Pawtuxet Valley has named Senator Mark McKenney as grand marshal.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. from the intersection of Washington Street and Read Avenue, at Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. near the Coventry town line. Parade participants will stage beforehand on West Warwick Avenue at Washington Street prior to the start.

Parade Route:

The parade will travel north on Washington Street to Main Street, continuing north on Main Street and concluding in front of West Warwick Town Hall near the intersection of Providence Street and Legion Way.

Road Closures & Traffic Detours:

To ensure the safety of parade participants and spectators, road closures and traffic detours will begin at about 12:15 p.m. along the parade route and nearby intersections. Areas affected will include portions of:

  • West Warwick Avenue
  • Washington Street (West Warwick Avenue to Main Street)
  • Main Street (Washington Street to Gough Avenue)
  • Legion Way (traffic diverted away from Main Street)
  • Providence Street (Factory Street to Main Street)

Police officers will be stationed along the parade route and at key intersections to help guide traffic and ensure a safe event for everyone attending.
