Duties of the Quartermaster Workshop During the Revolutionary War, the newly formed Quartermaster Department for the Colonies was in the large part responsible for supplying and furnishing our army with everything that was needed and getting it to where it needed to be before them. This monumental undertaking was occupied by Major-General Nathanael Greene from 1778-1780. This position put him under a significant amount of stress, as did the entirety of the war itself.
