COVENTRY, RI—Coventry’s Third Annual Summer Festival began with a bang with Pawtuxet Rangers cannon fire celebrating U.S. independence a week early, routine timing for the town,  a big turnout and success across the board.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better night — the turnout was incredible, the food trucks were a hit, the band had people dancing and singing, and the fireworks were a great way to end the night. It was a true celebration of community, bringing neighbors and families together in the best way possible,” said Scott Sevegny, Parks and Recreation Director.

Turnout this year, estimated at about 5,000-6,000 town residents by Parks and Recreation. Coventry’s Parks and Recreation staff were joined at Summer Festival by WPRI Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca and Coventry Town Council President Hillary Lima, who welcomed Coventry residents.
