COVENTRY, RI — Coventry Community events this week feature a farmers market, several events with goats, and several Independence Day events, including a fireworks display.

The Coventry Community events weather forecast promises sunny with a high near 82 Friday, mostly sunny with a high near 80 Saturday, and partly sunny with a high near 83 Sunday, the National Weather Service reports.

Here are some Coventry community events and happenings to help you decide where you’re spending this weekend:

Coventry Community Events Friday:

Independence Day Open House What better place to celebrate Independence Day than the National Historic Landmark home of Revolutionary War patriot Hero and George Washington’s Second in Command and Most Trusted General, Nathanael Greene? Come out and join us on Friday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for our annual open house in celebration of America’s 248th birthday. There will be a Living History Encampment with musket, cannon, cooking, and colonial living demonstrations. Bring a picnic lunch and take in a free, self-guided tour of Spell Hall.

This event is admission free and open to all. Donations gratefully accepted.

Annual Apple Blossom 4th of July Parade Come celebrate the Fourth of July with our Annual Apple Blossom Fourth of July Parade. This neighborhood parade meets at the corner of Apple Blossom and Jack Pine at 10 a.m. on July 4, and the route goes around the block. Kids and adults are invited to decorate their bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers, etc. in red, white, and blue. Can’t bike or walk? Come line the sidewalks and wave at the crew of over 100 kids and families. Stick around at the end of the parade for a cool treat. We hope to see you there!

Johnson’s Pond Fireworks Display Join us on July 4 at 9:30 p.m. at Johnson’s Pond for our annual 4th of July Fireworks Display. This is one of our biggest activities each year, done to celebrate our nation’s independence and to show our pride in being Americans. This celebration has been funded entirely by the residents of Johnson’s Pond and generous local area businesses for 40+ years. The fireworks display is a celebration that is a tradition and an entire community event. We hope to see you there!

Goat Snuggles Come join us at Amazing Grace Farm and enjoy time with our goats. Brush them, snuggle them, give them snacks, and watch them play. We guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face. Each snuggle session is about 40 minutes long.

  • Fridays at 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m.

Coventry Community Events Saturday:

Life of a Soldier: Camp Life During the Revolutionary War Join us and the Kingston Reds at the Nathanael Greene Homestead as they explain what life was like for a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Learn to set up a campsite and take it down. Explore the essential gear as a soldier and practice drilling with one of the oldest Chartered Militia Companies of Rhode Island. Dress comfortably for the weather and wear walking shoes.

This is the first of a series of weekly, Sunday educational Workshops on 18th century life, and geared towards Elementary and Middle School aged children  and family participation. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the afternoon.

To register, admission cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Community Roots Market We’re delighted to announce that Community Roots Market is coming to Coventry, RI, and we’re eager for you all to join us. We’ll be featuring locally grown and crafted goods. Located at 2501 Nooseneck Hill Rd, Coventry, RI. Open every Saturday from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Goat Hike and Snuggle Come take a walk in the woods with us and our little herd of goats. The goats are off-leash and forage their way through the trails with us. We stop in several spots for you to interact with them and give them snacks. Easy terrain with a few small hills. The hike is about 40 minutes long. Each hike ends with a snuggle session!

  • Saturdays at 2 p.m.
  • Sundays at 10 a.m.

Baby Goat Yoga Join us on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. for a unique experience of yoga class plus baby goats! Our instructor will lead you through the class while the babies run, play, and most likely climb on you. All levels welcome. You will most likely get dirty, so don’t wear anything that can’t be washed. Bring a yoga mat (we have loaners) and an open mind. You will definitely enjoy this class.

Cost is $30 per person.
