Photographic Society Of RI Meeting
September 5 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
First meeting of the new year. Three of our members will be sharing favorite travel photos, pointing out how they got them and revealing various tips and items. Meeting is open to members and non-members.
The camera club was organized in 1927 by a group of engineers as the Camera Club of Providence of the Engineering Society. They met in the basement of a church in Providence. In the 1970s the name changed to Camera Club of RI and the location changed to the Woodridge Congregational Church in Cranston. In 1986 the location changed once again to its current location at Lakewood Baptist Church. Once again, the name changed in the 1990’s to the Photographic Society of RI. It’s essential mission of advancing the art and science of photography remains the same.
PSRI has a long and colorful history, and offers programs, workshops, competitions, and friendship among like-minded photogs.
The group holds meetings most Tuesdays at 7 p.m. from September to June at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave., Warwick, RI. See their schedule on www.psri.us. The group is always looking for new members, whether a beginner or an advanced photographer. For more info e-mail [email protected].
