Warwick, RI – Raymond McKay, a city network administrator hoping to run against Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), has resigned from the Warwick Republican GOP over an ordinance preventing him from running as a municipal employee, which he says also prevents him from serving on the committee.
US District Court Judge Mary M. Lisi ruled this afternoon that Raymond McKay, a newtwork administrator for Warwick, must obey a city ordinance prohibiting him from seeking office while employed by the city.
About 25 demonstrators chanted and marched through the drive-through at Wendy’s at 771 Warwick Ave. during lunch today, part of a multi-national campaign calling for higher wages and union organization for fast food workers.
The mayor’s office issued a statement on May 14 that the city won’t be able to accept tax payments from May 22 to 26.
The Warwick City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday night, May 12, to discuss a proposal to lease the Conimicut Shoals Lighthouse for possible use as a tourist destination.
