WARWICK, RI — The Boys & Girls Club will host the Grand opening of their new Cooper Building branch Teen Center at 885 Sandy Lane, for middle school students who want to explore art and creativity, on Nov. 8, a little later than planned.

The center will open to teens on Nov. 13.

The building had been scheduled for its grand opening Oct. 3, but construction is running a little later than planned, so the opening date has been postponed, “To ensure all safety needs are being met and construction is complete,” according to the Boys & Girls Club of Warwick.

“While work on this exciting new branch is being completed, we want to accommodate demand for activities and a safe place for young teens to go after school,” said BGCW executive director Lara D’Antuono. “For those families who planned on their teens going to the new branch in October, our Oakland Beach branch will be open to meet those needs beginning Oct. 3 until The Club begins operations.”

Once finished, ‘The Club’ will offer a variety of creative arts opportunities, culinary arts, and nontraditional athletic activities as well as a focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) that compliments in-school learning. A state-of-the- art recording studio will let teens record music as well as learn the technical side of the business. They will be able to practice with musical instruments.

At the Nov. 8 Grand Opening at 5:30 p.m., guests will  have a chance to explore some of what The Club has to offer. Participants will be able to try screen printing in the Creative Center, create a beat in the Recording Studio, take part in futuristic 4-D activities in the Gym, gaming in the Teen Center and much more. Light snacks will also be available.
