Warwick, RI – Batman’s got the batjet, batcopter,  batcycle, batboat, batski and an endless variety of batmobiles, including a three-wheeled version, according to a police report of an encounter Saturday near Oakland Beach.

The call broadcast over the Warwick Police Department dispatch frequency Saturday night.

“All units, keep a check for a three-wheeled, Batman-type vehicle, possibly occupied by Batman and Robin. Last seen, north on Oakland Beach Ave.,” the dispatcher announced to officers, as recorded on an audio file posted to soundcloud.com.

The three-wheeler was a new sight for an officer patrolling the Oakland Beach area, said Lt. Joe Hopkins. “He didn’t recognize the type of vehicle it was,” Hopkins said.

So the officer called the sighting in, including the description of its occupants, dressed in Batman and Batgirl costumes.

Hopkins said the Batmobile, actually a Polaris Slingshot, was properly registered and legal. The operator was an apparent good sport about the stop, posing for a quick snapshot before going on his way.
