Warwick, RI — Leave extra time to get to work Wednesday morning — the National Weather Service warns scattered snow showers could result in a quick covering of local roads, with accumulations of up to 1-2 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, some areas of western Connecticut and Massachusetts could see as much as 3-4 inches of snow during the day.

Record cold is expected in the area over the weekend, as well, according to the weather service. On Saturday, record cold temperatures as severe as -25 degrees could occur.
